Cody turns 1

Over the past week or so I have been re-visiting the memories of the last couple years of our lives and WOW what a journey it has been. First, the experience of conceiving through Invitro. The shock that we weren't able to conceive on our own, then the process. I am ever so thankful for what modern technology has done to give me a family, but not so sure I could do it again. It was hard both phyically and mentally, but worth every tear, bruise and polk.


Words can't explain what this little boy means to me. Everyone always says there nothing like the love between mother and child, but you never really get it until you have a child. This first year, with a new baby, as a new Mom is both overwhlming and amazing


Cody turning the one is so very bittersweet for so many reasons. As every milestone is reached, you look ahead to whats next. When will he hold up his head for the first time? smile at you? laugh at something? eat first foods? roll over? crawl? say his first words, take his first steps? Now that all the checks have been made, you want them all back. At least I do.....What an amazing year it has been, watching him grow from a sweet, chubby, needy, little baby into a walking, talking, toy throwing, mess making toddler.

I must admit, I was hoping he would wake up last night, just so I could rock him back to sleep one last time as an infant. But not luck, straight through he slept.

My dad came down last night to spend Cody's real birthday with us (he can't be here for the party) We went out to dinner last night and breakfast today. My Mom came to breakfast with us. To Cody, it was just another day, another meal with his grandparents, but for me it is so special, that both my parents were with me to spend this most important day with me.

Our 1st Mothers Day

Our first Mothers Day was spent with both Grandma's and Great Grandma. We ended up having bruch over Amber & Matt's house. All 3 family's plus our friends Chris & Eileen with there little boy Kellen. Amber and I did most of the cooking and eveybody else brought a dish. It was very nice afternoon and Cody was a very happy boy to have all his favorite people together. I just realized we didn't take a single picture which was very silly. maybe next year.

Cody-Boo is almost walking up a storm. He's not fully walking but is up to at least 6-8 steps at a time. Everytime he walks for than a few steps we clap out hands and big a to do about it. I predict by his birthday party he will be walking almost all of the time.

Cody is cutting another 1yr molar. This time on the bottom, so we are now up to 8 teeth. His 4 front teeth, 1 top molar, his 2 bottom teeth and 1 bottom molar. let em tell you, he is usong his new found teeth. There isn't much he won't eat. He loves all veggies, even broccoli and cauliflower, chicken, soup, grilled cheese, all pasta, yogurt, fruits and his all time favorite is PUFFS. Man he loves these little cereal like foods that melt in his mouth. Doesn't matter what flavor they are, he will pop 3 at a time...

With Cody's first birthday just a few days away, I'm finding myself re-living special moments and thinking back to all the new adventures we've been through as a family. My baby isn't so much a baby anymore. He's growing up so fast, and time is flying. I can still remember being home with him, sleep deprived and wishing he would grow up. Now that he is growing up, I want him to stop and stay a sweet, cuddley, messy, little baby. I know every mother goes through this, but it's still a little sad....

Cody's 1st Steps ~ 50 Weeks

A few big milestones happened this past week. First, Cody had a bit of an adjustment his first week back to daycare and grandma's. One night after we picked him up from daycare he was really cranky, I mean he wouldn't let us put him down and even play with him. I checked his bottom gums since he han't gotten the next 2 bottom teeth and nothing, I happened to check the top and sure enough one of his 1 yr molars had already broken through. Man, this kid has a high tolence to pain, we didn't even know they were coming. Now both his bottom molar seem to be next.

Second, Cody took his first couple of steps. He's been creeping really great for a while and loves his walking toy. Daddy and I sat on the floor about 5-10 feet apart and there he came, all excited flopping his arms and linging towards us. He's up to about 6 steps at once and is standing un-supported. He is almost able to go from a kneeling postion to standing. We are working on that this week...

As for me.... I am happy to report I have made it to my pre-pregnancy weight (even 2lbs lighter). Everything doesn't quite look the same, but most of my old cloths fit which I am very excited about. I'm only able to go to the gym a couple of times a week (which stinks) and now that it's hot like heck again, nightly walks are out of the question. I am really going to work hard on getting up a bit earlier in the am to run around the neighborhood. I gave myself til his first birthday and am so happy with myself that I made my goal.....

Home Sweet Home

Our trip to Mass was awesome except for the weather and the fact that I came home with a sinus infection. I did realize we really need more than 4 full days in order to see everyone more than once, especially with the little man. No one really wants to see me anymore, just my amazing little boy. He was so good on our trip. Both flights he was only a little crabby (which is to expected) and went with the flow while I dragged him from house to house to see everyone. I'm pretty sure he had a great time. Every house had new toys to play with and new people and kids to play with him. It was like he hit the jackpot. It was a really nice long weekend.

Over the next couple of weeks you will see a bunch of pictures my neice Hannah took (top & left). I had forgotten that she was in photography school. Man, this girl has a talent. She took over 200 pictures of Cody. I have only see around 20 of them, but am eagerly awaiting the rest. So far there are some really amazing and beautiful shots.

My next task is planning Cody's first birthday party. I have ordered the invites, thank you cards, banner etc... and figured out the menu. Just have to order the cake, get the paper goods and decide on the favors. I want his 1st birthday to be so special but don't want to go overboard. He's too young for a bounce house or anything like that and there are only a few kids coming so that would be a waste of money. Next year will be when the real fun will start....

11 Months ~ Off to Mass we go.....

We never did get to the beach, but we did get Cody his very own 6 activity baby pool that he absolutely loves. Hopefully we will get to the beach soon, because I love the beach and hopefully Cody will to. I always dreamed of having a beach baby. Overall It was a nice couple of weekends spent with the family.....

Cody now has 4 words in his vocabulary...... Mama, Uh oh, Dada and Nana. He started saying dada last week, craig couldn't be happier and nana came out of nowhere. We have been working on grammy or grandma, but it may be nana, only time will tell. I think we are on the brink of dog. I was trying puppy, but realized that may be too hard, so dog it may be.

This past weekend we went to the Delray Affair, which is a big arts and crafts festival in Delray Beach. Cody just loves anything with crowds and people to see. He's definetly a people watcher.

We also bought him his first walking toy. Sunday morning I looked up and saw him walking an empty diaper box across the floor. This signaled it was time. I've wanted to get him one for some time but didn't know if he was ready. Well he sure is. He loves this thing. Back and forth he goes, he's so dang cute.

We leave for our 3rd Mass trip on Thursday. We are very excited. The weather doesn't look to be favorable but we will deal with it. We have lots of plans to see family and friends. I can't wait to show off my little man.....

Cody ~ 46 Weeks ~ Family Times

This past weekend Craigs family from Ohio came down for a visit. Travis & Kim were the last immediate family to meet Cody. He was a bit shy at first, but shortly warmed up to them. We spent the weekend hanging out and catching up. Very relaxing.

We also took Cody to Church for the first time. We were a little weary of how he would do, but we were pleasantly surprised. He loved all the singing and our church has a full band so he constantly looking around to see what was going. It was really fun to watch. We are going to try to go at least once a month.

We have a busy weekend planned. Cody & I have Friday off and hopefully will be taking our first trip to the beach. Stay tuned for pictures and how it goes. My Mom got him a beach baby tent as an early birthday present which will hopefully keep him safe from the Florida sun and a fun, clean place to play. Saturday we are having a Birthday party for Travis and Sunday is Easter.

I really think Cody may be walking by his 1st Birthday. In the last week he has really gotten good @ creeping. It's very hard to keep him in 1 place these days, he's just all over the place. He realized he could crawl up the stairs earlier this week. Craig was right there with him. I was told it's important not to keep him away from the stairs, because he will only want to go up them more. So we have installed the gate and it will only be open when we are there with him. It's both fun to watch and exhausting and yes, I realize this is just the beginning.

Creeping Cody ~ 44 Weeks

Well Cody has mastered crawling and is now creeping and climbing. Up/down, up/down is all he wants to do these days, especially at my Mom's house where it is plushly carpeted (and safer). He is a crazy man. Every night after dinner on the floor her goes. He's content for about a half an hour playing with all his toys around him, then off he goes, usually straight for the dog bowls. After the dog bowls, off to the stairs then back to his toys. It's about the same every night.

With creeping, Cody started a bunch of new stuff in the past 10 days. He now holds his bottle all by him self. He's been holding his sippy cup for months now, but just got the hang of the big bottle. He also clapping his hands. All you have to do is start singing "if your happy and you know it" and his 2 chubby hands start clapping together. He also shakes his his no, he doesn't know what it means yet, but mimicks us and the biggest new thing Cody started doing is.............he says MAMA. At first Craig said it didn't count because he said it along with wawawa and babababa, but he banged his hand, looked straight at me and said MAMA and put his hands up. It melted my heart.

I catch myself saying and writing , It's the cutest thing all the time, but thats how I feel. Our little boy amazes me everyday. He does the cutest things and makes the funniest faces, i'm brought to tears almost everyday because the how happy this little person makes me. Being a Mommy has totally completed my life and I thank God for him everyday.
